Due to COVID-19,  in-person meetings of the Olympia Camera Club are canceled until further notice.  We are now scheduling virtual OCC meetings and will be releasing meeting information as it becomes available.  Watch this space.

Tuesday, February 9, 7:00 pm – Practical Photography – This month, Chris Shealy will be doing a presentation on Portrait Photography – including how his small in-home studio is set up, the lighting equipment that he uses, and how he post-processes the portraits he makes.  Bring your questions to the meeting as there should be adequate time for questions for Chris. Hope to see you on the 9th.

Tuesday, February 16, 7:00 pm – Member Sharing –This month we will focus on your Black & White images. Obviously, this can relate to any genre so the opportunities are vast. This will be another fun event for you to show us your black and white efforts, both new and past images if you have not been able to get out.

Tuesday, February 23, 7:00 pm – General Meeting –This month we welcome Teri Lou Dantzler as our special guest speaker. Teri is an internationally known iPhone photographer and leads photo tours in the Palouse. She will be teaching us how to produce first rate images with our iPhones with particular attention given to editing.

All meeting are on the Zoom Platform.

To participate you will need a microphone.  A headset with an attached microphone is helpful. Most laptops come equipped with a built-in microphone.   A Web Cam is nice, but not required.

Virtual Field Trips

No field trips are scheduled at this time due to COVID-19.  Instead we will conduct a series of virtual field trips in the monthly newsletter and with Field Trip Galleries.

Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge
Virtual Field Trip

NO Excuses. Get out and shoot. Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge is open to photographers and wildlife lovers.

The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge Auto Tour Route on the River ‘S’ Unit is open to vehicle traffic only.  Stately sandhill cranes, shorebirds, and a great variety of songbirds stop at the refuge during spring and fall migrations. Some bird species such as mallards, great blue herons, and red-tailed hawks are year-round residents that nest on the Refuge. Black-tailed deer are the largest mammal on the refuge. Coyote, raccoon, skunk, beaver, river otter, and brush rabbits can also be seen on the Refuge.

GUIDELINES for IMAGES:
Images are due by March 4, 2021.  Members may contribute up to 5 images per person to the newsletter for each virtual field trip, but you may also upload up to 10 of your images to the club’s website gallery by logging into the website and choosing ‘ADD IMAGES TO GALLERIES’ from the Member’s Only Area.

Please size your images to 2048 pixels on the long side and reduce the file size to 2MB or less. Put a watermark on the image and title each image. Example for the title: Milky Way over Mt Rainier_Pam Hoaglund. Please send the images as an attachment to an email to
