Organized in 1935, the Olympia Camera Club (OCC) resides at the Southern-most tip of Washington State’s Puget Sound. Our objective is to share the creative spirit supported by knowledge and technique. We cheerfully welcome all visitors and new members.
We have several different meetings each month to meet varied interests. Our “General” meeting is where we hear from a variety of speakers on photographic topics or we are treated to themed presentations from our own members. Our “Practical Photography” group focuses on topics of interest to all photographers who wish to hone their skills and keep up with the latest techniques, software, and hardware. Our “Member Sharing Night” is an informal gathering for image sharing, but may also include round table discussion, critique, and followup to the lessons learned in the Practical Photography group.
In addition to our “official” meetings, we have an informal “Koffee Klatch” get together every two weeks on Wednesday mornings, and each year our club members enjoy a summer planning picnic, an annual banquet, and a holiday party.
Members can participate in outings, which we go on throughout the year to photograph scenics, wildlife, architecture and much more. This is an excellent way for those new to the region to learn of interesting places to visit that are often off the beaten path.
Our club hosts the annual Thurston County Fair Open Class Photography Exhibit and frequently offers its services to local non-profit organizations, such as the Capitol Land Trust and the Olympic Flight Museum. By joining, you can help us make a difference in our community.
